Arta Lavenia Carroll Scarbrough was the daughter of James Henry Carroll and Ada Deborah Cook. She married William "Willie" B. Scarbrough at her parents home in Goodwater Clay Co. Alabama on 25 December 1904. Willie and Lavenia were the parents of three sons and four daughters. Lavenia passed away at her home in the Antioch community, near Eldorado Jackson Co. Oklahoma.

OBIT:
Mrs. Arta Lavena Scarbrough
departed this life at her home four miles of Eldorado Oklahoma April 27th 1928 after a lingering illness. She was born August 15 1888 in DeKalb County Alabama. Age 39 years 8 months 12 days. She was the eldest daughter of J.H. and Ada Carroll.
She was married to W.B. Scarbrough at the home of the bride, Dec. 25th 1904. To this union were born three sons and four daughters, one who preceded her to the grave several years.
She professed a hope in Christ and joined the Primitive Baptist Church at New Prospect Clay County Alabama the 26th day of June 1904. Was baptized by her grandfather Elder N.M. Cook. Her faithfulness is worthy of mention for she never missed her meetings unless illness stood in the way. She was a strong believer in the doctrine of Salvation by Grace. We feel that she was a true Primitive Baptist indeed, and in truth.
She was a good wife and mother. May the dear Lord bless us, that we may meet her in that land where sorrow will be no more. Funeral services were conducted at Pilgram Rest Church at Eldorado Oklahoma by H.C. Marcum. She leaves to mourn a sad husband and six children, relatives and a host of friends.
While looking on the peaceful face of my precious wife as she lay cold, I felt to say, she is now at rest with her Savior

A precious one is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

We miss thy kind, willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care.
Our home is sad without thee,
We miss thee at church, we miss
thee everywhere.

Her time had come to leave us and while we sorrow, we desire to be submissive to the will of God. Feeling she's now with her Master whom she delighted to serve. She is greatly missed by relatives, neighbors and friends. How she is missed in the home of this poor sinner, her sorrowing husband.
