Joan Sasser Tuttle
January 16, 1959 - August 8, 2023

Joan Sasser Tuttle went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at her home. Joan was born in Craven County on January 16, 1959, to the late Doris Worley Sasser. In addition to her mother, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Michael David "Dave" Tuttle.

Service to others was one of Joan's many passions. This love led her to a career at the North Carolina Women's Prison and later with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

Joan worshiped and served her Lord and Savior in many ways as a member of Patetown Church of God.

While Joan loved all animals, she held a special place in her heart for cats. It was important to her to rescue, feed, and rehome as many of the feline community as possible.

Joan could fill her days by sitting with a book in her hand. Traveling through time and culture, she enjoyed the many worlds she viewed through the lens of a good book. As much as she loved to read, spending time with her family was always enjoyed.

A service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Patetown Church of God with Pastor Marvin Wiggins officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. A private interment will be in the Patetown Cemetery.

Joan is survived by her sister, Brenda Moore of Goldsboro; brother, Jack S. Sasser and wife, Mary Oliver- Sasser of Peoria, AZ; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much. She is also survived by special family friends: Catlin Harper, Danielle Spain, Moriah Berry, Olivia Merritt, and Troy and Sharon LaPlant.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Joan's memory to Patetown Church of God, 215 Church of God Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org).

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
