ABOUT PEOPLE
A well-known and much-respected figure in pastoralist circles has passed away in Mr. Alfred Hay, who died early yesterday at his home, Avalon road, Armadale, aged 72. Mr. Hay, who was one of the best known Riverina pastoralists, was the son of the late Mr. William Hay, Collendina and Boomanoomana stations. He was born at Campbelltown, Tasmania, in 1846, and inherited Boomanoomana from his father, an old Church of England Grammar School boy, having attended that institution in 1862-63. Twice married, he leaves a grown-up family by his first and a younger family by his second wife. About three years ago he retired from active management of his station property which was transferred to his sons. He was a member of the Australian Club. The funeral will take place this afternoon at his station, Boomanoomana Homestead, Mulwala.
