Helen's teaching career began after just turning 17 in a one room rural school house with six weeks of Normal School under her belt. She continued her education, earning her teaching certificate and finally her BEd at the age of 48, all without attending one year at the university.
She was predeceased by her ex Bill Herring; husband Adam Huber; sisters Olga Robinson and Elizabeth Strong; brothers-in-law Tom Robinson and Bill Strong; niece Cheryl Robinson and grandson Evan Herring.
