MRS. HENDRICKA VAX NERYNEN
Mrs. Hendricka Van Neryne, 88 years old, a resident of Kalamazoo for 44 years, was found dead In bed early Monday morning at her home, 1307 Oak street, by Mrs. John Bosman with whom she lived. Death was due to old age.
Mrs. Van Nerynen was born in Russum, Gelderlund, Netherlands, and spent the early years of her life there. In 1867, her husband brought his family to Kalamazoo.
Landscape gardening was his business. For many years he was employed by Stephen Cobb. Among other work that he did here was in the laying out of what is now known as Henderson park at Grand avenue and W. Main street. He died 17 years ago.
Four children, all of whom were brought up in this city, survive. They are Mrs. Arnolda Hollesteller, Mrs. Cornelia Frick, Arie Van Nerynen, all of Kalamazoo, and William E. Van Nerynen of Plainwell. A brother, E. Van Haaften, of this city, who is 91 years old, also survives.
The funeral will be held from Van Halst's chapel at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Trost officiating. Burial will be In Riverside cemetery. Kalamazoo Telegraph Press December 11, 1911 page 5
