Their children were: Evan Kelly, who married Clarissa Marie Ellerman and after her death Bernice Estes; Everett Allen, killed in a plane crash on active duty with the U.S. Army in 1945; Carl Harry, married to Norma Joyce Ustick; and Betty Lorene, wife of Donovan Verneal Kennon.
Her family was the most important thing in the world to Alva. She delighted in her siblings and was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to the end of her long life. She was never so happy as when she was in their company.
