Shirley D. (Smith) Acker, 69, of Sproul passed away Saturday at Nason Hospital. She was born in Sproul, daughter of the late John and Bessie (Oldham) Smith. She was raised in the home of Ruth and Dave Sell. She married Leroy Acker July 26, 1959, in Leamersville.
Surviving are her husband; daughter, Lisa Acker of Sproul; three grandchildren: Latishia Acker and Makaylah and Kasandrah Nolan; twin sister, Norma Jean Brown of Martinsburg; and two brothers: Glenn Smith of Sproul and Elmer Smith of Carlisle, Ind.
Mrs. Acker was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Erik Lingenfelter officiating. Interment at Sproul Cemetery.
