Charles "Leroy" Acker, 79, Sproul, passed away Sunday at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Imler, son of the late David William and Lillian (Finnegan) Acker. He married Shirley D. Smith on July 26, 1959, in Leamersville. She passed away April 5, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Acker; and three grandchildren: Latisha-Anne Acker and Makaylah and Kasandrah Nolan. Leroy was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Acker was a 1955 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. Leroy was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Claysburg. He was employed at Standard Register Co., Bedford, for 22 years and then worked at Cannondale Bicycle Corp. until his retirement. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Claysburg.

Leroy enjoyed fishing, making wine and crossword puzzles.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, with Pastor Erik Lingenfelter officiating.

Interment will be in Sproul Cemetery.
