Update: In a statement released by Fulham FC, his family said: "Mrs Mohamed Al Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023.

"He enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones. The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time."

Mohamed Al-Fayed (/ælfaɪˈɛd/; Egyptian Arabic: محمد الفايد [mæˈħæmmæd elˈfæːjed]; Born Mohamed Abdel Moneim Fayed in Alexandria, Egypt he was one of five children of a primary-school teacher, Aly Aly Fayed. Not many details are available of his childhood. Mohamed was the husband of Samira Khashoggi and had one child Dodi Fayed who was the lover of Diana Princess of Wales

Mohamed was an Egyptian businessman whose residence and chief business intetests were in the United Kingdom since the mid-1960s. His business interests included ownership of Hôtel Ritz Paris and formerly Harrods department store and Fulham F.C., both in London. As of 2023, Fayed's wealth was estimated at US$2 billion, ranking his wealth at no. 1,493 in the world.

Fayed was married to Samira Khashoggi from 1953 to 1956, and had a son Dodi. Dodi was in a romantic relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales when they both died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. In 1985, Fayed married Finnish socialite and former model Heini Wathén with whom he had four children: Jasmine, Karim, Camilla, and Omar.

He was buried at Barrow Green Court alongside his son Dodi, after a funeral service during Friday prayers at London Central Mosque.
