DAVISVILLE - Appalene E. Roberts, 88, of Davisville died March 9, 2004, at Ohio Valley Nursing Home.

She was born June 1, 1915, in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Franklin and Myrtle Clark Rexroad. She had worked as a cook for the Wood County Board of Education and at Wilson's Market. She was a member of the Murphytown Garden Club and Christ United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean Porter and husband, Earl, of Tucson, Ariz., and Janet Sue Hatfield of Davisville; three brothers, Lester Rexroad of Vienna and Richard Rexroad and Robert Rexroad, both of Parkersburg; one granddaughter, Terri Lehman of Athens, Ohio; two grandsons, Jerry Porter and Patrick Porter of Tucson; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Edward Roberts; three sisters, Alta Faltzcraft, Ruth Ford and Lillian Swain; three brothers, William Rexroad, Paul Rexroad and Gene Rexroad; and two granddaughters, Susan Ruble and Tammy Ruble.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Casey Stinespring officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home
