Amey Cordelia Wilcox was born in Gallia County, OH, February 22, 1841. She moved to Iowa and married to Oran Counsil in Mahaska Co. on November 1, 1860. In 1865 she moved with her husband to Kansas near what is now Concordia. Owing to the threatening attitude of the Indians at that time, the following year they returned to Iowa.
