Obituary:

Mathias W. Vasquez, 53, of 560 Second Street, Pentwater [MI], was dead on arrival Friday at the Oceana Hospital after a long illness.

He was born April 12, 1924, in Detroit, and married June Foyt on September 12, 1970, in Detroit. The couple has been living in Pentwater for the past year and he was a retired truck driver.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Ruthann Vasquez of Indiana and Sarah Lynn Vasquez of Detroit; two step-daughters, Susan Patrick of Indiana and Christopher Surmacz of Detroit; seven sisters and one brother.

The funeral for Mr. Vasquez will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Tate-Weaver Funeral Home, Pentwater, with Fr. Pedro Garcia officiating. Cremation will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Muskegon.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
