INTRODUCTION TO MY SISTER
Alice was born in 1928 one year after her two younger brothers died. Mom and Dad took great care with her safety in order to prevent her from slipping or falling. Alice was reading by age two, as Mom strongly believed in education. Alice skipped two grades in elementary school and later graduated from our prestigious Indiana University.
Alice was 14 years my senior, and I wanted to be like her. She was the style of elegance and grace, strong, intelligent, and I was proud to be her sister. Alice became a schoolteacher, an excellent artist (with many garnered awards), married a wonderful man and became the mother of three beautiful daughters.
