Janet I. (Havlichek) Tuma
April 1, 1941 - September 2, 2023

Janet was called to Jesus on September 2, 2023, at 2:39pm with her daughters by her side, while in the ICU at Mt Siani Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The same day as her granddaughter's 20th birthday. Since 6.25.2023

Janet was in 4 ICU units in 4 hospitals in 2 states. It was her inner strength and determination for life that led her to live 70 days on a ventilator with hope to get better.

Janet was born on April 1, 1941, to Anton and Helen Havlichek in Two Rivers. Janet graduated from Two Rivers High School and went on to study Cosmetology at The School of Cosmetology in Green Bay, WI

Janet married Richard Tuma August 17, 1963, at St. Luke's Church in Two Rivers, WI.

Janet and Richard were in two different hospitals on their 60th wedding anniversary and saw each other via facetime. Janet and Richard are proud parents to their two daughters, Sherrie Tuma Czechanski (Mark Czechanski) and Donna Kay Lonzo (Thomas Radtke). Their lives were blessed with two grandchildren, Marris R. Czechanski and Vincent J. Czechanski.

Janet discovered that her passion for caring for people, specifically oncology, was her mission in life. She was employed with Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Home Care and Hospice for 42 years and was honored as Employee of the Year. She continued her caring for others while in retirement, a word she never chose to acknowledge since her work was helping others. It was her deep compassion, heart of gold, and dedication to helping others that made Janet the choice of many health professionals as the go to caregiver. Her cornerstone was her Faith, Family and Friends, putting the needs and wants of others above hers. Janet's legacy will live on through her family as she instilled a sense of purpose, inner strength, and spiritual faith. The beautiful memories that Janet created will be the souvenirs of her life. Janet enjoyed the Food Network and was a Super Fan of Guy Fieri because she thought he "was funny" (her words) and enjoyed his shows. Guy sent Janet a personal video to show his love and support which she watched and beamed with happiness on the last day of her life. Janet constantly reminded her family that Life is a Celebration and always had special occasion cakes made to honor her family.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Anton and Helen Havlichek, Aunt Clara Naidl, two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lorraine (Victor) Harding, Carol (Harold) Demell. Carol Orpin, her close friend, and many people whom she cared for through the years.

Janet is survived by her husband Richard Tuma, daughter Sherrie Tuma Czechanski (Mark Czechanski) and Donna Kay Lonzo (Thomas Radtke), two grandchildren, Marris R. Czechanski and Vincent J. Czechanski.
Janet's cherished grand furbabies Sammy Czechanski and KoKo and Kirby Radtke always brought a smile to her beautiful face.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, 2023, on Richard's 85th Birthday.

It was a special blessing that Jesus called her husband Richard on the same day, eight hours after Janet.

A memorial service in honor of Richard and Janet will be held by Father Dave Beaudry at 1pm at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home followed by a double celebration of their lives with a Life Celebration Social from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
