Musician & Songwriter. A keyboardist, he was the lead vocalist and founding member of the 1960s music group "The Association." Born Terry Richard Kirkman, he was raised in Chino, California and majored in Music at Chaffey College. He acquired early experience as a performer with Frank Zappa, prior to forming "The Association" in 1965 with Gary 'Jules' Alexander. Initially with the Valiant record label they enjoyed instant commercial success with the top seven hit "Along Comes Mary" (1966), followed with the number one, gold single "Cherish." After moving on to Warner Records, they continued to achieve stardom from the hit "Windy" (which achieved a number one placing on the American Pop Charts and gold record status in 1967), "Never My Love" (number two placing and gold record status, 1967) and the top ten hit "Everything That Touches You" (1968). The group performed at the historic Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. In addition, they performed on the TV programs "The Hollywood Palace," "The Ed Sullivan Show" and "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour." Later in life, Kirkman served as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor, while remaining active in music.
