Alice Sherman was born November 20, 1936, in Chicago, to Frank and Vivian (D'Anna) Longo. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Lake Geneva. Alice graduated from Schurz High School in 1954 and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1958, with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She married her high school sweetheart on August 1, 1959. Their enduring love and 64-year marriage has been an inspiration to all who have known them. Alice taught in Chicago's elementary schools for more than 20 years, but above all she will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her husband and children. After raising her children and retiring, she enjoyed travels with her husband throughout Europe and to Australia, summertime in Lake Geneva, and winters in Ocala, FL. She took up quilting and learned to golf, but most of all she cherished spending quality time with her family. Alice is survived by her loving husband; her children; grandchildren; sisters; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Angela LaPorta, and two brothers-in-law. Prayers will be said on Friday at the funeral home at 9:00 AM, for Mass at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 714 E Walworth Ave, Delavan at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at East Delavan Union Cemetery.
