He was born September 2, 1930 in Chillicothe to the late Frank and Cloie (Bunn) Berry. On May 9, 1954 he married Hazel M. Kellough who preceded him in death March 29, 2018.
Surviving are children, George (Lynn) Berry and John (Jenny) Berry, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, John (Lori) Berry III and twin brother, Charles Berry, Lauri (Michael) Ball, Kirstie (Ben) McKell, Allyson (Holden) Dyke, Courtney Berry and Malia (Tristan) Oesterle; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Phyllis) Berry, of Chillicothe, Joan Hess, of Chillicothe and Connie (Frank, deceased) Vest, of Waverly. He was predeceased by a twin brother and sister-in-law, George and Esther Berry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Berry, Reuben Berry, Raymond Berry, Larry Berry, (who was a twin brother to Richard), Robert "Bob" and Bernice Berry, and Frank and Mary Berry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha (Fred) Pelcha, Opal (Myron) Cottrill and Violet (Donald) Pollock.
John was vice president of the former Berry Brothers, Inc. They built over 225 custom homes around Ross County. His slogan was "give them the most for their money." John's kind heart was seen in the quality of work he provided. He served in the US Navy.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Rowland Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of WARE FUNERAL HOME.
