Karl was born in Korkushütten House No. 15, Práchen Region, Kingdom of Bohemia, Austrian Empire (today known as Korkusova Hut', Prachatice District, Czech Republic). He was the son of Johann Mondl and Thelka Wallisch.

In the year 1891, he married Anna Schneider, daughter of Alois Robl Schneider and Aloisia Eva Krill Kubicek. At the time of their marriage, Karl was thirty-five years of age and single, and Anna was twenty six years of age, single, with one child, Maria (born out of wedlock).

Karl and Anna resided at Ernstberg House No. 6, Winterberg, Austria-Hungaria (today known as Arnoštka, Prachatice District, Czech Republic) until 1900 when they removed to Glasshütten House No. 9, Winterberg, Austria-Hungaria (today known as Skláre, Prachatice District, Czech Republic). Together they had five more children.

Karl departed this life on the 25th day of January 1936 at the family home in Glasshütten.

They had six children: Maria, Louise, Millie, Josephine, Blasius and Anna.
