Peter's probate records were executed in Aug 1853, hence we can discern his death being several months prior. He died without a will. Determining the names of Peters children is difficult for several reasons. One, he lived when censuses did not require names of children. Another, his children died prior to states adopting death certificates. Another being that Peter died without a will. And, unfortunately, we have not found any oral history or family bible records for Peter. However, by studying possible children, we do come up with some leads. Only two sons are definitively described in court records, those being Elijah and William. Other than they, we must make some assumptions based on other clues.
