Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. A private interment will take place at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL.
Ms. Cochran was born April 28, 1926, in Cartersville, GA, daughter of the late Bardie Thomson "Tompie" Abernathy and Mary Alice Howell Abernathy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family deeply. She spent most of her life fulfilling and supporting her family as a soldier's wife. She had worked in sales with Avon and enjoyed the many new customers and friendships it created. She was a member of the Cartersville American Legion and was thrilled with the opportunity to travel to all 50 states. She loved the outdoors and spending time and fellowship with family and friends. She was a member of Southern Baptist Tabernacle in Cartersville, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joel Edward Scott and James Thayne "JT" Cochran; four sisters, Melissa Cochran, Elsie Kerce, Elma Cox, Ottie Mae Abernathy; two brothers, Luther Abernathy and Richard Abernathy.
She is survived by her son, Richard "Ricky" Scott and wife Connie of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
