THE TRIBUNE (Cartersville) October 22, 1925

In Loving Memory of Ottie Mae Abernathy

On October 13th, God sent his angels and took the gentle spirit of our darling, Ottie, across the dark river of death into the beautiful city of God.
She had been sick for several weeks with typhoid fever. The end came peacefully and quietly with her loved ones at her bedside. Loved ones were faithful to the end in their very diligent and tender nursing of their darling, administering to her every want and need.
Ottie was only thirteen years and five months old. We all loved her and the parting was so sad, but we were left behind and she has gone to lead the way. But we hope to meet her in that heavenly home.
Ottie was always so kind and her loving voice and sweet face will be sadly missed in the home that has been made desolate by her going. We are confident she has gone where there'll be no more sickness and death or parting tears. Funeral services were held in the Macedonia Church and were conducted by Elder J.T. Abernathy, a lifelong friend of the family. Interment taking place in the nearby cemetery.
The beautiful floral offerings bespoke the love and high esteem her loved ones and friends held for her.
G.M. Jackson & Sons were in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tompie Abernathy, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Howell and Mr. and Mrs. H. Abernathy, two brothers, Richard and Luther Abernathy, three sisters, Malissa, Elsie and Elma Abernathy.
She lay with her curly blond hair and her soft dress of white. Then we kissed — Oh her beautiful eyes that use to shine so bright.
An aunt, Naomi Howell
