Darnell stewarded well the life, time and opportunities God gave him. He was baptized in 2000 by Pastor Jerry Hughes at St. Mark MBC and quickly united with the Lord and his Church family where he immediately joined the Usher Board. Persistent in his pursuit of educational goals, he graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1987, where he was a member of the French Club and National Honor Society. He also was the first in his family to receive a PERFECT score of the ACT. He attended Christian Brothers University, where he majored in Engineering and joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
The summer of 1988 he met the love of his life, Kristal, while he was a Freshman at Christian Brothers University. During her college days, he would fly back and forth to UT Knoxville to visit her while she studied there. After a dramatic proposal in the drive-thru line of one of their favorite restaurants (Taco Bell), they married on June 1, 1999, but decided not to announce the union until their Ceremony on October 30, 1999. God bound their hearts for 24 years of marriage and seeded them with love and knowledge to plant in their four lovely children: Ymecia, Marsellis, Heavenly-Grace and Antonio.
Always dutiful and a great provider, he was a certified federal tax preparer and worked for Federal Express for over 23 years where he advanced to the position of Team Lead for International Sort. For the past 11 years, he had been enjoying a thriving career at General Motors where he worked as a Parts Distribution Technician.
He's now reunited in Glory with several loved ones: his mother Mary Louise (Harris) Golden and his father Darnell (Bubba) Golden, Sr; maternal grandparents Mack Golden and Lessie Golden; paternal grandparents Dave and Lizzie Harris; godparents Frank Benton, Gary Boyle and Clara Louse Porter.
Remaining as his earthly legacy are his loving wife Kristal Golden and four children, Ymecia, Marsellis, Heavenly-Grace and Antonio. His sister Tonea (Jabar) and brother Mario, Sister in Laws: Tarlisa, Elvira (James), Shelby and Ophelia (Brian). The Loving Grandparents of our children: Carolyn Visor, Calvin & Vicky Acey. Our Precious God Parents: Zelma Echols-Eatmon, Ernestine Benton, Rachelle Boyle and McDowell Porter II, as well as an abundant host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends & associates and his General Motors work family.
We thank our Heavenly Father for planting Darnell in our lives during our earthly season and for the wealth of love and beautiful memories that remain from such a well-lived life.
