Killed In Wreck
Howard Vurland Hill, 42, was killed in an auto accident near Carrollton last night when the car in which he was a passenger overturned as he was nearing home.
Services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Liberty Baptist Church at Jefferson with the Rev. Grantham officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery with Williams & Lord in charge.
According to reports, Mr. Hill and his son Howard who is at home on leave from the Navy at Long Beach, CA, together with Herbie F. Watts of Conway, SC, and James Horton of Ridgeland, SC, navy associates of young Hill, had gone to Carrollton and upon their return home the car overturned, killing Mr. Hill. The car was owned by young Watts.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Laura Hill, and four sons, Howard Hill, US Navy, Long Beach, CA; Robert Earl Hill, USAF, Edwards, CA; Floyd and Jimmy Hill of Carrollton; also his mother Mrs. Robert Hill of Duck Hill; five sisters, Mrs. Jack Beckwith of Carrollton; Mrs. Edward Nail of Grenada; Mrs. Dorothy Owens of GA; Miss Mary Hill and Miss Lette Hill of Duck Hill; nine brothers, Burlie Hill and J.B. Hill of Chicago; Ezell Hill of McComb; Lloyd Hill of Holcomb; L.V. Hill of Washington; Raymond Hill, US Army, Germany; Chester, Bruce, and James Hill of Duck Hill.
