Per James Eldridge Quinlan's History of Sullivan County:
Fanny, daughter of Israel Knapp, was 16 years old when she married William A Thompson on July 17th, 1785. She died of consumption on June 11, 1788, leaving two children, Charles Knapp born May 12, 1786 and William Augustus born December 11, 1788.
Quinlan describes her as
"tall, genteel, 16 years old, and much marked with the small-pox. Her uncommon strength of mind, great elegance of manners, and lovely disposition, completely veiled her misfortune from the eyes of the scholarly voting gentleman who made her his wife, and always sanctified her memory in his heart."
After Fanny's death, her widower, William, married her sister Amy and they settled in Sullivan County, New York, the Town of Thompson being named for him. He also had a third wife after Amy died, with a grand total of 16 children.
