Born November 5, 1917, in DeKalb, she was the daughter of Michael and Josephine (Vivona) Ridulph. She married Denis William Bauer on Oct. 25, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DeKalb.
A 1936 graduate of DeKalb High School, Mary worked for DeKalb AgResearch in the poultry department. She was a member of and volunteer for The Church of Saint Mary in Sycamore for almost eighty years. Mary believed in paying it forward, and lived that belief by delivering Meals on Wheels. Little did she know that she would someday become a recipient herself. Mary was exceptionally proud of her family. It was her greatest love, joy, and accomplishment. She was a big fan of the Chicago Bulls, the Golden Girls, game shows, reading, and gardening. Mary had a warm and friendly nature, abiding faith in God, and was totally surprised on her 100th birthday by recognition from the Pope.
Mary is survived by her children, Richard Bauer of The Villages, FL, David (Chris) Bauer of Long Beach, CA, Denise (Rusty Gray) Roach of Steamboat Springs, CO and Sante Fe, NM, Renee (Roger) Little of Annapolis, MD, and Alan (Mary) Bauer of Sycamore. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren: Amy, Bob, Brad, Casey, Elizabeth, Nathan, Nicholas, Nicole, and Sue; 11 great-grandchildren: Aleah, Ali, Bobby, Brian, Cody, Dawson, Eowyn, Esme, Jammie, Marah, and Rowan; and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Cecilia, Indie, Theo, and Vivianna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; parents, brothers and sisters; one son, Lee, daughter-in-law, Joyce, and granddaughter, Jori.
