George Morgan was born in 1775 at Cumberland County, NC, the son of John Morgan. The area where the Morgan's lived became part of Moore County, NC in 1784. George's wife was Nancy. By 1810, they were residing in Clarke County, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). In 1816, they were residing in Monroe County, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). By 1820, they had relocated to Bluff Springs, Wilcox County, Alabama. They remained here until moving to Sterling Robertson's Colony on the Brazos River in Robertson County, Texas. George's land deed is dated Sept. 9, 1835. George, his wife Nancy and members of the Marlin family were murdered here on the night of Jan. 1, 1839. They were all buried together in a wagon near the home. The cabin remained standing until it burned in 1900. This land is now in Falls County, Texas.

George served in the War of 1812 in the 1st Regiment Mississippi Territorial Volunteers under Gen. Claiborne.

George and Nancy were the parents of: Sarah, Joseph, Jr., John Claiborne, Barba, Mary Ann, George Washington, Martin, James, Andrew Jackson and William James Morgan. Their only child who did not move to Texas and remained in Alabama, was Joseph Jr.
