Allen "Scott" Thornton, Jr, Coweta resident departed this life on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 67. Scott was born on October 1, 1955 in Chandler, OK to Eva Marie (Hurt) and Allen Scott Thornton, Sr.
He was a graduate of the 1973 Class of Sand Springs High School. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at APAC, Standard Industries, where he met Donna Sue Chambers Cooley. They were married on May 28, 1982, in Eureka Springs, AR and shared 41 years together. Scott became an equipment manager before retiring. He then enjoyed riding his Harley, puttering around on equipment, sight-seeing with MeMaw, camping with his family, and watching his grandbabies grow.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Linda Garretson.
Scott is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Thornton of the home; six children, Jeff Cooley of Claremore, OK, Pamela Robertson and husband Bruce of Peoria, AZ, Jennifer Kilgore of Tulsa, OK, Margenia Barrie and husband Robin of Anderson, CA, Crystal West and husband Kevin or Glenpool, OK, and Gregg Thornton and wife Nona of Coweta, OK; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sandra Newell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
As Scott, he worked hard, as Dad, he taught his children to work hard. As PawPaw, he loved hard. We miss you PawPaw.
