Leon Gowin was born to Rance G. Gowin and Carrie Giles Gowin in Emory, Rains county, Texas. He enlisted in the Army July 21, 1942 and saw action in WWII. He was married to Bobbye Tadlock Gowin who preceded him in death and they had two daughters and three grandchildren. He then married Marguerite Heald Gowin and through her had two stepchildren and three grandchildren. He spent 30+ years working for E-Systems now known as L3. He worked all of his life at one job or another, but his passion was his family, his home, raising farm animals, gardening and serving his community. He had a very giving spirit. He served as Mayor, Justice of the Peace and Constable for the town of Emory, Texas.
