The Armidale Express and New England General Advertiser (NSW : 1856 - 1861; 1863 - 1889; 1891 - 1954) Tue 30 Aug 1904
Hillgrove & District. [FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. ] Hillgrove, Monday.
In my last I mentioned the serious illness of Mr. Charles M'lntyre, who had a very bad attack of pneumonia, and Dr. Hardcastle held out no hope of his recovery. On Thursday last he died, at the age of 58 years. Deceased was of a kind and generous nature, and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He leaves a wife and grown up family of four sons and two daughters to mourn their loss. Two of the sons are in Queensland, while the remainder of the family reside at Hillgrove. The Borough Council, by whom the deceased was employed, have lost a faithful servant. The widow and family have the heartfelt sympathy of the residents of Hillgrove. The funeral, which was well attended, took place on Friday afternoon, the remains being interred in the R.C. cemetery. The Rev. Father Scheey officiated at the grave. The body was carried to the grave by the members of the Miners' Association, of which deceased was an active worker.
