On the 16th of May, 2023, the world said a gentle farewell to Elizabeth 'Elsie' Dabney Gordon. Respected and cherished by the community of Marblehead, treasured as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many, Elsie's legacy glows with the graceful radiance that marked her 94 years. Her journey ended as serenely as it was lived, encompassed by the love of family, echoing with laughter, and imbued with an undying zest for life.

Born on the 9th of November, 1928, in Boston, MA, Elsie was the daughter of the late Frederick L. and Beatrice Howell Dabney. Dover, MA, was her childhood home, the place that crafted the pages of her early life before marrying her soulmate, the late Alistair H. Gordon, on July 9, 1955. Together, they wove their dreams into reality in Marblehead, MA, where their hearts expanded to accommodate their three cherished children: Gwendolen, Alexander, and Douglas.

Elsie's story continues through her son and his wife of Marblehead, MA; her brother; her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her narrative also echoes in the fond memories of her predeceased daughter, Gwendolen (Gordon) Krisko, son Alexander C. Gordon, and beloved sisters, Vera W. (Dabney) Kelsey and Beatrice Dabney Adams.

Elsie was a beacon, her quick wit and effervescent laughter illuminating the most ordinary moments. Her enduring fondness for dachshunds, her devotion to maritime life, and her joy in boat trips and basking in the tranquility of her favorite beach Sun Bay, all paint a vivid picture of a life lived fully. She savored her trips to Vieques, PR, where each visit was a canvas for new memories and enduring friendships.

With her, Elsie carried an inner strength, resistance, and a spirit that defied age. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her vibrant joy that resonated with the simplicity of a child's delight will forever be etched in the hearts of those blessed to have known her.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Elsie, a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 1 pm at the Masonic Temple, 62 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA. Rather than flowers, the family graciously invites those who wish to honor Elsie's memory to make donations to the MPN Research Foundation.
