Mrs. Apple was born in Patrick County, Va. to the late John P. and Martha Lou Mabes Hodgson. She was a member of Church of the Living God and was retired from Fieldcrest Mills.
Surviving is daughter, Gradie "Shirley'' Russell of the home; son, James Wiles (and wife, Linda) of Eden; sisters, Eula DeHart of Eden and Daisy Burton of Winston-Salem; special niece, Adrian DeHart; three grandchildren, Steve Wiles, Alisa Harris (and husband, Scott) and Jeff Wiles; two great-grandchildren, Brendon Harris and Mason Harris.
