Gertrude Minter Gauldin Sage, 87, formerly of Cascade, VA died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Blue Ridge Rehab., Martinsville, Va. Born on October 15, 1920 in Leatherwood, VA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Joseph Minter and Dora Myrtle Bray Minter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Mitchell D. Gauldin and her second husband, Hurley R. Sage; two sons, Julioes M. Gauldin and Lester "Luck" D. Gauldin and four brothers, Wayne Minter, Mitchell Minter, Grover Minter and Glenwood Minter.
Mrs. Sage retired from Dan River Mills, Danville, VA and was a member for 60 years at Mount Calvary Church, Axton, VA.
Surviving are her two daughters, Joan G. Barker and Darnell G. Doss both of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Irene M. Powell of Eden, NC and Nancy M. Inman of Brosville, VA; two brothers, Curtis Minter and Clifton Minter both of Axton, VA; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Mount Calvary Church, Axton, Va. with Reverend Gary Robertson, Reverend Woody Massey, Chaplain Shirley Massey and Reverend Roy McVey officiating. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA.
