Bessie Mary (nee: Metcalf) Bishop, 77, of Morrow, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 surrounded by family and friends at UC West Chester Hospital. Bessie was born on October 20, 1946 to William and Lula Mae (nee: Pearson) Metcalf in Dayton, OH. Bessie spent her life walking with God ensuring whoever she was to meet would feel loved and taken care of. Bessie enjoyed a career with Kings local school district as a bus driver, retiring in 2003. Many students looked to her as a grandmother. All the neighborhood children along with her family always enjoyed her warm smile and loving heart. Her singing and cooking always comforted the heart and soul of anyone that was lucky enough to be in her company. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Lovingly known as Nanny by all the neighborhood kids, Bessie had a love for music and was willing to share it with the world, she loved to sing and was skilled in guitar and piano as well. Along with music, she loved her dogs like they were her children. She was a devoted long-time member of the Clarksville Pentecostal Church. Many people will attest that Bessie was a pure selfless soul. She will be forever in our hearts and truly missed.

Preceded in death by her parents, William and Lula, brothers, Sam, Bill, and Mark Metcalf, sisters, Shirley Metcalf and Cynthia Collins. She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Bishop, daughter Tami (Steve) Leuzinger, brothers, Charles (Beth) Metcalf, John (Debbie) Metcalf, Vernon (Jan) Metcalf, Jeff (Sophia) Metcalf, Anthony (Sheila) Metcalf, and Chris (Laura) Metcalf, sisters, Willa Mae Welch, Bonnie Collins, Joy (David) Rose, and Sheila Rose, Grandchildren, Steven (Miranda) Leuzinger, Chris Leuzinger, and Victoria Leuzinger, Great grandchildren, Teagan Holley and Vance Leuzinger.


Visitation, Wednesday, December 27. 2023 from 10 AM-12 PM with a service at 12 PM. All at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon. Pastor Rick Sandlin to officiate. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon.
