Linda Stewart, age 78 of Mt. Vernon, KY departed this life on Thursday January 5, 2024, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
She was born on January 23, 1945, in Pine Hill, KY, a daughter of the late Orbin and Pearl Chestnut Falin. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who found great joy in cooking, music, shopping at Goodwill, gardening, canning, and spending time with her children and family. On July 13, 1964, she was united in marriage to Carl Benton Stewart and from that union came: Teresa Jo, Alfreda, Clayton, Billy and Allan "Tubb."
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of 59 years, Carl Benton Stewart of Mt. Vernon, KY. Her children: Teresa Jo Cromer (Jack) of Pongo, KY; Alfreda Caldwell (Jeremy),
Clayton Stewart (Donna), and Billy Stewart (Leslie) all of Mt. Vernon, KY. Her grandchildren: Jeffrey Cromer, Wendy Davidson, Kenny Cromer, Ashley Stewart, Alexis Stewart, Preston Stewart, and Easton
Stewart. Her great grandchildren: Gracie, Kenya, Jamie, Logan , Presley, Casen, Camden, and Bella Cromer; Carlee and Korie Davidson, and Addy and Slayton Payne. Her sisters: Marty (Jody) Leger and Inas (Charles) Leger. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allan "Tubb" Stewart; grandson-Cody Leger; sisters- Irene Stewart, Alma Smith, and Evelyn Miller; brothers-Dallas Falin, Ellis Falin and Tommy Falin.
Visitation for Linda Stewart will be Monday, January 8, 2024 from 12pm-2pm at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with funeral service following at 2PM with Bros. Tommy Miller and Jason Medley officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Family Cemetery.
