Hazel Luter Feltus, age 95 passed away at home on Monday, October 9, 2023.She was born May 20 1928 in Kokomo, Mississippi to Eugene and Pearlie Luter. She was the 5th of 14 children. Supv. Feltus was a prominent, well known and highly respected Christian leader, Educator and Humanitarian. She was the wife of the late Bishop James Feltus, Jr., Founder and First Presiding Prelate of the Church of God in Christ United. She served with her husband faithfully in ministry at the First COGICU, New Orleans and Kenner for over 65 yrs. They also established churches throughout the US and 7 foreign countries. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: her children; Joan Feltus Wilson, Gerald Feltus (Janice) of Dallas, TX, Eunice Feltus Little (Bishop Arnold Little I), 26 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law, nieces & nephews, The COGIC United, First COGICU and Free Spirit Stewards' COGICU members, Gethsemane COGICU, spiritual sons and daughters of the Gospel, and a host of relatives and friends. Homegoing Celebration: Saturday, October 28, 2023, Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127; Visitation-9am Service- 10am. *There will be a celebratory procession around the New Orleans Lakefront immediately following the service.* Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Arrangements entrusted to Richardson Funeral Home of Jefferson, River Ridge, LA.
