He was born on July 12, 1933 to Jesse and Esther (Olson) Brown in Defiance County, OH. In 1957 Richard married Beverly Cereghin who preceded him in death in 1992.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri during the Korean War. He was an excellent horseman who raced horses at Mountaineer Racetrack & Casino in West Virginia for 15 years. He spent 33 years working for Dinner Bell Foods as a truck driver, and also worked for Webb Brothers in Defiance. In his free time he enjoyed watching Western movies and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his son, Tim Brown of Defiance, his grandchildren, Kristin (Allen) Spencer, Shauna Brown, Matthew Dobbins, and Melissa (Michael) Snyder, four great grandchildren, his brother, Will Brown, and son-in-law, Steve Dobbins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Brown, daughter, Sandy Dobbins, brother, Bud Brown, and sisters, Jane Locy and Kate Little.
Per Richard's request there will be no visitation or services at this time. A Military service will be announced at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
