She was born on January 31, 1922, to Jesse and Ester (Olson) Brown in Toledo, Ohio. She married Robert D. Locy Sr. on April 21, 1946, and he passed away on March 25, 2006. Helen was a school bus driver for Northeastern Local Schools. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, both of Defiance. She attended Auburn United Methodist Church in Auburn, Ala. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, playing cards, sewing, crocheting and ceramics.
Helen is survived by her sons, Robert (Marcia) Locy Jr. of Auburn, Ala., and Jack (Sandy) Locy of Defiance, Ohio; grandchildren, Michelle (Bruce) Mitchell of Madison, Ala., Ian (Beth) Locy of Madison, Ala., Erin (Steven) Gladden of Sharpsburg, Ga., Heather (Noah) Hampton of Defiance, Ohio, Morgan (Marissa Snyder) Locy of Columbus, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse "Bud" Brown Jr. of Anacortes, Wash., Richard Brown of Parkersburg, W.Va., Willard Brown of Defiance, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Bell Lang of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and a sister, Kathleen Little.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Donnally officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.
