Breckenridge Cirttenden was a funeral director. He received a bio in "Who's Who in Colored America." He was the son of Harry and Laura (Brackston) Crittenden. He married Ella Banks in 1904. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1914. He and Ella operated their business in Cincinnati and in Lexington.

According to his obituary in the Lexington Herald Leader for October 14, 1948, "Services for Breckinridge Crittenden, former Lexington undertaker who died in Cincinnati Monday, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist church, Cincinnati. The body will lie in state at his home, 820 Lincoln avenue, Thursday and will then be removed to his funeral home, 602 West Seventh street. … Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Lexington."
