Margaret Peden Buffington

Margaret Peden Buffington was born in Paris, France on October 10, 1924. At the age of 4 she sailed across the Atlantic with her mother, Annee and her father, Allen, arriving in Houston, Texas in the Fall of 1928. She quickly adapted to live in America, helped by Allen's large, extended family.
In 1944 her father introduced her to a young Navy Ensign, Milton A. Buffington and the couple fell in love. They married and in 1946 had their first child, a boy also named Milton, born in Bryan, Texas while Milton A. attended Texas A&M. Margaret and Milton A. travelled to Los Angeles, California after he graduated. Margaret was then pregnant with her second child, Phillip, who was born in Pasadena on July 20, 1951. Thereafter Margaret and her family lived in Mexico, Texas and Arizona before settling down for 20 years in San Gabriel, California. Margaret was a loving mother who devoted herself to raising her children while Milton A. travelled extensively as a mechanical engineer. She was very active and nothing pleased her more than spending what free time she might have with close friends and neighbors. Her son Milton married in 1970 and Phillip in 1972. They gave Margaret three grandchildren, Alex, Lauren and Phillip II whom she adored. In 1996 Milton A. and Margaret moved to Phoenix to be near their son Phillip. They lived in Sun Lakes and enjoyed golf and being with friends into their golden years. Margaret was blessed with good health until 2010. She died peacefully on October 31, 2011, leaving behind her two sons and their wives, Mimi and Lisa, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Miranda and Kamryn. Private family services will be held and inurnment will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, Chandler, AZ.
