William ''Bill" E. Oborne, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 26, 2006 at the age of 81 following a lengthy illness.


He was a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps, and was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 45 years of service. Bill was a member of Calvary Temple and for many years served on the Church Board.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola; daughter, Sandra; son, James; and by his parents and siblings.


He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Clara; son, William ''Billy"; daughter-in-law, Christine Oborne; stepdaughter, Linda (George) Gribben; stepson, Greg (Joanne) Kendall; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tanna, Brandon, Aaron, Todd, Tonya, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mary, Joel, Douglas, and Debbie; and nine great-grandchildren.


Funeral service Monday, 11 a.m. at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, with Reverend Lindsey T. Hayes officiating.


Burial at Hillside Memorial Park, where military rites will be conducted by Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. and one hour prior to service time Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to VNS Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333.
