OBITUARY
“The funeral of Sarah Middleton Holding was held in the Seventh Ward chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 1912. Bishop Charles P. Margetts had charge of the service. Invocation was offered by A. G. Thorn. Elder V. L. Halliday, and Bishop George Romney of the Twentieth ward, both of whom had known the deceased in England previous to her coming to America, spoke of her beautiful character and her many acts of charity and self-sacrifice for the comfort of others.
President William McLachlan of Pioneer stake said he felt honored to be privileged to bear record of the beautiful attributes of the deceased and knew her to be a noble woman of sterling worth.
Dr. James E. Talmage of the Council of the Twelve endorsed the remarks of the previous speakers, and very beautifully he elaborated upon the doctrines of the resurrection and the necessity of a preparation in this life for a future existence.
The musical part of the services consisted of solos: "I know that my Redeemer liveth," by A. H. Wallace; "Oh, Love Divine," by W. A. Howard; "Face to Face," by John D. Bowers. The benediction was offered by Elder A. H. Wallace.
The following grandsons of the deceased were pallbearers: E. H. Eardley, F. H. Eardley, A. H. Eardley, Eugene Holding, Thomas C. Holding and Harry P. Holding.
The floral offerings were very beautiful. The interment took place in City cemetery, the grave being dedicated by Elder E. H. Eardley.”
