Virginia Beach - James A. Wharton, Sr., also known as Jim Dandy, 78, of the 5000 block of Scholarship Drive, departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2008.

James was employed as a tailor with the United States Navy and as a district manager with the Virginia Pilot.

James was also a member of the Sophisticated Gent's.

James leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Julia M. Wharton; two daughters; Lynn Fisher and Deidra Harris (Vincent) and six sons; James A. Wharton, Jr.(Constance), Andre F. Wharton, Edward Marshall, Jr., Carlos Marshall and Andre Marshall. Also left to cherish his memory are eleven grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by two special friends; Homer Meems and Raymond Vaughan.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2pm - 7pm at the J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 3008 at 11:00 am the funeral home with Pastor V. L. Harris officiating. Pastor Edward O. Jones will perform the eulogy. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements.
