Soda Springs - Edsel ''Ed'' Thomas Haines, 66, of Soda Springs, passed away on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at home. He was born July 26, 1939, at Paris, Idaho, the son of Thomas Ralph and Rhoda Crossley Haines. He married Patty Broby in December 1989 at Brigham City, Utah. They later divorced.
He was raised and educated in Utah. He had also lived in Denver, California, Las Vegas, Preston and Grace, before moving to Soda Springs.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of the disabled Veterans of America and the NRA. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Ed worked in the printing industry as a press operator. He was also a gunsmith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, artwork and guns.
Ed is survived by two sons and one daughter, Rocky Haines, Ogden, Utah; Paul Haines, Denver, Colo.; and Debra K. Johnson, Denver, Colo. Also surviving are two grandchildren; one brother, Dennis R. Haines, South Weber, Utah; and one sister, Afton Krupa, Uintah, Utah.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. Services are under the direction of Sims Funeral Home
