Mrs. McKay, a native of LaGrange, born June 26, 1905, had lived for many years in Philadelphia, Pa. was the daughter of the late Robert Ridley and Mary Jane Bradfield Lane. Mrs. McKay attended Winthrop College and was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia. When her husband retired from an executive position with the Philadelphia Rapid Transit System, they returned to the South and lived in LaGrange and Pine Mountain for over thirty years. She was a charter member of the LaGrange Cotillion Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an active member of the Chattahoochee Valley Art Museum and a student at LaGrange College where she studied painting under art professor Jarrell Hethcox. Mrs. McKay was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William Cook McKay Jr., and his wife, Libby Ann McKay of Murfreesboro, Tenn., a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and John Biddle of Jamestown, R.I.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Dr. William L. Hutchinson, of LaGrange and two nieces, Pauline Hutchinson Smith of LaGrange and Sara Hutchinson Moseley of Boca Grande, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cook McKay Sr., and her son, Robert (Bobby) McKay, four brothers and two sisters, including the late Mrs. Frank Hutchinson Sr.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange with Dr. George Sinclair officiating with burial in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
