Hello Wanda!
First of all... thank you for making my 3rd Great-grandfather's memorial.
I realize his monument is deteriorating, but no where on the headstone does it mention Louis/Lewis was born in Texas. He died in Huntsville, Walker TX November 1884.
However - Louis/Lewis Stephens, along with his brother William, were born in Kentucky. William was born 1811 in KY; Louis was born 7 Aug 1814 in KY. Every census since 1850 states KY... 1850 1860 1870 1880.
Louis lived in East Baton Rouge Parish, LA since 1838 or before. His wife was born in LA, as were all their children. Louis didn't arrive in Texas until somewhere just before 1880.
Would you please change the location of Birth to Kentucky, not TX?
It's very important for all researchers to have the most accurate and valid information available, because too many people do not do their proper research... just filling in the blanks to be adding something to their unfinished trees. So one would come along on F.A.G. and record incorrect information, not knowing Louis/Lewis had another life outside Texas, when in actuality, he only lived there for a very short five years.
