Jane was born in a little town about thirty miles from London, England, in 1796. She came from a large family and when very young left home and found work in London as a lady's maid for a family whom she served for seventeen years. Upon the death of the man and wife, she was left a legacy amounting to about two thousand dollars. About this time she married Charles Tuckett and, using the money she had inherited, they opened a shoe and millinery shop.
One night after Charles had gone to bed, the King's men came to the home and "pressed" him into service for the King. This was done by pressing a coin into the palm of his hand. He was taken away and was not allowed to return hone. While working on board a ship in service of the King, he was stricken with quinsey (sic) and died at the age of 47.
She & her children joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jane set said for America in the ill-fated sailing vessel "Berlin". It sank on its return trip.
They landed in New Orleans and then went to St. Louis.
After Running a boarding house to save money to make it to Salt Lake City they arrived in Sep 1855.
She was a Mid Wife & Nurse.
She died at the home of her son Henry.

Her devotion to her husband's memory was tender and beautiful. She could never marry again and was happy in the thought of meeting Charles as his wife for eternity. She was truly a faithful pioneer!
