Richard (Dickie) I. Bloodworth passed away from a heart attack on December 3, 2023, in Blue Ridge, GA. He was born August 11, 1934 to Francis Bloodworth and Christine Sangaree Bloodworth in Apalachicola, FL. He is survived by his wife of 67 years; his daughter and son in law; a son; a brother; a sister; an aunt; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Ricky Bloodworth. Richard was a USAF-Ret. CMSGT. Enlisted in the USAF in 1952, he began a 29 year career in Air Traffic Control. He worked in Towers, Rapcons, and GCA's while in AACS, AFCS and AFCC. Assignments took him to Neubiberg AB, Germany, Edwards AFB, CA., Tyndall AFB, FL., Kadena AB, Okinawa, Forbes AFB, KS., Kunsan AB, Korea, Ellington AFB, TX., Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam, Aviano AB, Italy and Sheppard AFB, TX. He graduated from the Community College of the Air Force, the USAF Senior NCO Academy, the Military Airlift NCO Academy, and attended Wayland Baptist University. Among his decorations are the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Award and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross. After retirement from the USAF. he continued his Air Traffic Control career by working 14 years in Jeddah and Dhaharan, Saudi Arabia with the Bendix Corporation and ICAO under United Nations Development Program for a total of 43 years in the field of Air Traffic Control.
