Edwin R. Baxter, 84, Dies Today
Edwin R. Baxter, 84, retired Clifford farmer, died today at Bartholomew county hospital where he had been a patient 1 days. He lived at Clifford and had been ill five months.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Norman funeral home in Hope by the Rev. Hubert Walker. Burial will be at Lambert cemetery. Persons may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Born in Jefferson county Feb. 22, 1883, Mr. Baxter was the son of Williamson and Tilda Jane Briddle. He married the former Anna Painter Wright Feb. 23, 1907.
Mrs. Baxter, his wife of 60 years, is a patient at the Columbus Convalescent center.
Surviving are six children, Joe Wright of Nashville route 4, Mrs. Deana Mankin of Clifford, Fred Baxter of Route 1, Walter Baxter of Route 6, Mrs. Lottie Swineheart of Clifford and Mrs. Toiley Ferguson of Clifford, 24 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three children, Homer, Floyd and Wilbur Richard Baxter.
