From the Eveleth News-Clarion (published 4/10/1947):

"Mrs. Hortance Thibaut Ducham, age 90, died at the More hospital Thursday night. She was born Jan. 20, 1857, at Gilly, Belgium, near Charlevoux. She leaves as survivors three grandchildren, Mrs. Joseph Nelson of 119 Second street south, Virginia; Floyd Thibaut of Flint, Michigan and Kenneth Thibaut of Clare, Michigan, and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ducham was married to Joseph Thibaut in 1881. She migrated to the United States about 1885, going to McDonald, Pa. She remained there for about four years, moving to Belair, Ohio for two years, then to Whiteshore, Iowa. After a year there, they came to Duluth and purchased supplies and a team and walked and rode to Tower, Minn., where they remained for 14 years. They moved to Eveleth in 1901, where Mr. Thibaut engaged in the tavern business at 207 Grant ave. and served as a member of the city council. They had two sons, Leoneth and Jules, Leonneth losing his life in an accident while they resided in Pennsylvania. Her husband, Joseph Thibaut, preceded her in death on July 5, 1912 and her son, Jules, died in January, 1918. She was married to Joseph Ducham in 1914 and he passed away in August, 1939. The recitation of the Rosary was held at the Graham Funeral Home at 8:30 o'clock on Sunday evening. Funeral services were held from the Graham FUneral home at 7:30 Monday morning and at 8 o'clock the same morning from teh Immaculate Conception church with Rev. Fr. Silvio Zanoni officiating. Burial was in the Calvary cemetery in Virginia."
