Deaths.
Kunze. -- Mrs. Karl Kunze died after severe suffering on Wednesday, April 5th, near Holstein, at the age of 64 years and ten days, as a result of vovulus. Maria Kunze, nee Schoppenhorst, was born March 25, 1841, near Hopewell, Warren County, Mo. On February 26, 1864 she married Karl H. Kunze. Three daughters sprang from this happy marriage, namely: Auguste, married Schrör; Ida, married Brewe; and Emma, married Schrör. The latter, although the youngest, preceded her mother in death seven years ago.
In addition to her deeply grieved husband and two daughters, her passing is mourned by three grandchildren and the following siblings: brothers Wilhelm Schoppenhorst, living at Hopewell; Hermann Schoppenhorst of near Wellington; Fritz Schoppenhorst and August Schoppenhorse of Higginsville; and sisters Louise, married Schowengerdt; Elise, married Fasse; and Anna, widowed Fuhr, all living in or near Higginsville, Mo.
The deceased was for many years plagued by rheumatism and therefore mostly confined to the house, where she did not lack for care from her husband and daughter. Now, we confidently hope, she has been redeemed from all suffering and has entered the eternal bliss of the children of God. May the faithful God graciously guide her now lonely and saddened life-companion to a good end and not let him lack for necessary care.
At the funeral, which took place on Friday afternoon in our congregational cemetery, a large number of mourners attended from near and far. The undersigned spoke in the church from Romans 8, 34, 35. May the Lord bless the Word.
H. C. Nagel, Pastor.
